Spanning across Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, and Final Fantasy XII, Ivalice marries the aesthetic of medieval Europe and the Mediterranean with the iconic magic and creatures of the FF series. Then again they could make each part into a 30-40 hour thing with a expanded storyline and such.Ivalice is one of the deepest and richest worlds that Square Enix has ever created. I'd rather the whole game at once then a part of it. I am a bit intersted in the FF7 remake if its going to have Crisis-core like gameplay, but I will probally wait till all 3 parts are out, since once they are, they will release a complete edition that has all 3 for the price of 1.
BEST FANTASY RPGS 2017 MOD
As someone else has said, you can mod the game to make it look pretty amazing. If i was to rate it today? 5/10, since ignoring graphics, most other rpgs just have better stories and gameplay.Įven though I say this, FF7 is still worth a playthru, its still a decent rpg and is worth playing at least once. If I was to rate FF7 back then I'd have given it a 6.5/10 due to a somewhat weak story.
That said FF7 is not a bad rpg, its just highly overrated just like FF10 is also very highly overrated. Square is always top for pretty visuals though, but those visuals come at a cost of the rest of the game being subpar compared to more modest looking rpgs. My first clear of FF7 was about 28-29 hours, and I did every single thing in game except for mastering all the materia.Įven around the same tiem FF7 came out, Wild Arms came out, and I felt Wild Arms was overall a far better rpg than FF7 was, both in story and gameplay. As for the remake, I can't see it as anything else than a money grab, there is no reason a rpg that is barely 30 hours to do everything (except mastering all materia) needs 3 seperate games/parts to it, all it seems to me is they plan to suck the fanboys dry and they'll love it too. how about no? The story is actually pretty weak, Even one of the worst Tales of Titles has a more intersting and engaging story. In terms of story and gameplay anyway.Īs to people who says FF7 has the best story and that, yeah. Then get back to me here!įF7 like FF10 are 2 very highly overrated rpgs, mostly because for alot of people it was their first rpg/ That said they are still alright, but they aren't nearly as good as the Tales of series. Later on in the game, it becomes a bit of a psychological thriller as you recalculate all of the information you've been given.īah, just go play it - Play at least until you get to the world map. There is something about the sci-fi mystery, the opression, the rebellion (the root cause of their friendship) and the snarky/short responses. From a story aspect, I have a hard time getting into a lot of RPG's (Fallout 4 was amazing, but still did not suck me into it like FF7 did). The mechanics are good, menu is decorated but easy to navigate. It is not possible to replicate this effect 1:1 on a flat panel (It's not an HD issue, it's the type of display issue). CRT's had a blurring effect which smoothed the projection of the small resolution.
BEST FANTASY RPGS 2017 TV
I seriously bought a CRT TV for my retro station. My ONLY gripe about enjoying this for the first-timers in 2017 is the backdrop scenes will not look right on a modern HD TV (It had a pre-rendered animated background in about every scene). The CGI scenes are very pixelated - I really wish they could have been re-rendered from source files. I think the combat system is fine if you're OK with turn based gaming. #From a 2017 perspective# The game has not held up very well, but much better compared to other games of the time (A lot of the Playstation 1 era games). If you are younger OR if this is your first time playing, my opinion will be greatly biased. This game can bring out feelings I have not had in over a decade, every time.
FF7 is an all-time classic for me, even if it is nostalgia based.
